High Line and Hudson Yards: An Art and Architecture Walking Tour
Discover the impressive architecture of Hudson Yards and the gorgeous High Line outdoor elevated park, which concludes next to the new Whitney Museum now located in the Meatpacking District just a few blocks from the south end of the Chelsea art district. ART SMART can create a unique walking tour for you and yours focusing on the art and architecture in this vibrant area. We will select objects, buildings, and galleries that will resonate given your tastes and interests.
What to Expect
We’ll begin our private guided walking tour with an exploration of the outdoor elevated park of the High Line and the stellar architecture that is developing currently along the park. We can offer the historical context of how such an elevated park was developed and stop to discover more about the outdoor artworks installed along the High Line. Along the way, you’ll be able get an overview of the Chelsea gallery scene that passes underneath the High Line. You’ll also get to check out the constantly evolving architecture and unique sculptures of Hudson Yards, including The Shed and NY’s new staircase landmark, The Vessel.
For those interested in the foodie culture of NYC, we can also explore the Chelsea Market. As we do not offer public group tours, all of our excursions are private. Your tour will be led by a qualified art historian with a background in modern and contemporary art and experience in the field.
During the customization process, you can let us know your preference in:
- focusing more on the architecture or the artworks
- the depth of historical details and development around Hudson Yards
- stopping to explore food at the Chelsea market or art in the Chelsea galleries
- discovering The Shed space and Vessel experiential sculpture
For those interested in purchasing works of art, we can arrange for a behind-the-scenes viewing of galleries’ larger holdings.
For those wanting to combine this tour with a tour of the Whitney, just book both on the same day. We can certainly allow for a lunch break in between.
Pricing Questions
Private tours for 1 – 4 people in your group booked online* start at $225 per hour (a 5% discount over tours booked via email or phone). All tours have a two-hour minimum. Additional people and/or additional time have an additional fee. Museum admission needs to be added for each person. This is added during your booking. We will get your tickets ahead of time for you. So you can skip the lines!
* For those who need a bit more service via email and phone, our pricing begins at $225 per hour for 1 – 4 people. Larger groups are $50 per adult, $25 per child.
